It is a basic fact, any surfaces facing north receive less sun and dark and damp places (such as those facing NORTH) encourage the growth of mold.
Mold is a fungus that grows as well as inside as it does outside of houses – sometimes even better. This fungus comes from an off white to black, in various shades, we have seen them all. It thrives in dark damp and humid places and may grow on many different types of surfaces. Moulds can be found practically anywhere; the can grow on just about any substance, providing moisture exists. You will find molds that may grow on foods, paper, carpet, and wood. And of course, MY favorite – my shoes and boots. Fur shoes. Good times.
It’s going to eat away at the surface, if the mold isn’t removed. Over time, this may deteriorate the thing.
All of our exterior spaces are subjected to excessive wetness and humidity, which can be a major contributing factor to mold growth since we are now living in the darned near sub-tropical North Carolina area… Mildew and mold spores generally appear as powdery spots on house exteriors. When the deterioration process commences, they become more attached to sidings over time. And sometimes you just need to break down and call a real Raleigh powerwashing company to get the job done. I’ve stood outside before with the $100 powerwasher. It is NOT a quick process. It’s only mildly better with a commercial pressurewasher, but at least they KNOW what they’re doing.
Molds produce tiny spores to reproduce, just like some plants that produce seeds. These mold spores are available inside and outdoors, flying through the air and settling on outdoor and indoor surfaces. When these spores that are mold touch down on a damp area, they are able to start growing and digesting whatever they are growing on in order to tolerate. You conserve money by removing mold growth and can prevent damage to building materials, since molds slowly ruin the things they grow on.

Girlfriend powerwashing the porch in raleigh – badly.
Porch is one thing – deck restoration and whole house operations – that is serious and screams for pros
It’s the time to truly begin looking at your home for clean-up that is possible! Going into summer, it is a great time to think about getting things cleaned NOW – like your home siding, your decks and verandas and more. The temperatures are going to hike up a bit making it a little warmer if you wait until serious summer time temps to do this with the windows and doors opening and closing to facilitate your cleaning.
We merely knocked OUR veranda this past weekend as well as our front concrete footpath out. There is just something about having some fine clean looking areas around the house. While we did it ourselves this time, when we need the actual professionals – like to really stand around and do the whole deck/house – we go ahead and pinged the guys over at http://www.bluedawgpressurewash.com. Plus they are able to add the driveway on as well without batting an eye… It’s just a whole lot simpler…
